At Barbosa Mechanical we value your family’s comfort, as well as your budget. We also understand that this is a busy time of year and many of our Dallas, TX area customers have decided to delay their new HVAC purchase until next spring… but did you know there are federal tax credits that expire on December 31, 2016 that may make reconsider your timing? Barbosa Mechanical wants to make sure our budget conscious customers take advantages of cost saving opportunities on this important investment.

Here are a few of the Energy Star products we install that qualify for a federal tax credit:

• Air Source Heat Pumps – Split System - $300 tax credit on a split system with a SEER rating of 15+ or an EER of 12+.
• Air Source Heat Pumps – Package System - $300 tax credit on a package system with a SEER rating of 14+ or an EER of 12+.
• Central Air Conditioning Split System - $300 tax credit on a system with a SEER rating of 16+ or an EER rating of 13+.
• Central Air Conditioning Package System - $300 tax credit on a system with a SEER rating of 14+ or an EER rating of 12+.
• Gas, Propane and Oil Furnaces - $150 tax credit on a furnace with an AFUE rating of 95+.
• Electric and Gas Water Heaters - $300 tax credit on products with a thermal efficiency of at least 90%.

*It is important to note that gas furnaces affixed with the “U.S. South” Energy Star logo, DO NOT qualify for the Federal Tax Credit. These furnaces are only 12 percent more efficient than standard (non-Energy Star) models, whereas typical Energy Star furnaces are as much as 16 percent more efficient. These “fairweather” U.S. South Energy Star Gas Furnaces are only available in the southern half of the U.S., where homes, on average, require less energy to heat.
